I’m Sierra McGovern, LMFT
SHE / HERS
Therapy with me is warm, casual, and cozy.
I’m a queer-affirmative, trauma-informed therapist with 6 years of clinical experience. Through an integrative formulation of existential, feminist, and narrative modalities, I support my clients in finding relief from anxiety and a deep sense of security and self-worth. I also use somatic therapy for attachment trauma to help clients feel secure in relationships.
I’m also a professor of clinical counseling, teaching future therapists about human sexuality, family dynamics, trauma treatment, and abuse in childhood and romantic relationships.
Questions?
-
Your first session is all about clarity: we’ll explore your struggles and set goals for treatment together.
Questions include topics like your family background, important relationships, and lifestyle factors to get a holistic understanding of what you’re going through and create a detailed treatment plan.
-
Anxious women are my primary area of clinical expertise. This often includes processing childhood trauma, low self-esteem, relationship issues, and people-pleasing.
I am a queer-affirmative therapist and deeply familiar with treating religious trauma.
-
Therapy is highly individualized, and length of treatment varies based on what you want to work on.
For issues that require long-term healing like recurring patterns, past trauma, or complex emotional issues a year or more is ideal.
Most clients meet weekly at first and later we can adjust frequency based on your needs.
-
The investment per session is $225.
This includes the appointment itself, and time treatment planning, ongoing training, and staying on top of the latest research to provide the best care possible.
-
I’m not an in-network provider. Sessions are FSA/HSA eligible and I can provide a superbill for reimbursement according to your plan.
-
Yes, if you’re located in California I have virtual sessions available.
In-person sessions in San Diego are also available.
